Meet our New Life Enhancement Director Tracy Comer!

Meet our new Life Enhancement Director Tracy Comer! Tracy Comer is not new to Dirigo Pines — she’s been with us for several years as the part time Activities Assistant and we’re excited to have her in this new role!

While working in restaurant management, Tracy decided she needed a change of pace. She started working at Dirigo Pines as a part time Activities Assistant. Tracy quickly realized she had a passion for the job and that she loved working with Dirigo Pines residents. When Amanda Smith decided to change positions in order to have more flexibility and more time with her beautiful new son Remi, Tracy embraced the opportunity to step into the role of Director of Life Enhancement. We are glad Amanda is still with us, but we are so lucky Tracy was prepared to take on new responsibilities. She has taken on the challenge with energy, enthusiasm, creativity, and her well known good sense of adventure.

Tracy is a longtime resident of the greater Orono-Old Town community. She grew up in Bradley, and now lives in Old Town with her husband and two Boston Terriers.

In her spare time she enjoys hiking, kayaking, camping, nature photography and has been known to go whitewater rafting. Tracy and her husband are adventurous travelers who have been to 17 countries and several states.

We want to congratulate Tracy and officially welcome her to the position of Director of Life Enhancement!

Meet the Staff: Susan Habeeb RN, Director of Transitional Care

Meet Susan Habeeb RN, Director of Transitional Care

Susan-HabeebI observed the positive and respectful culture demonstrated by the staff and residents which left a very strong impression upon me. I am very pleased to now call it my workplace.

I began my career in nursing, training at the Eastern Maine Medical Center School of Nursing in 1977. I later earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing from Husson College. I worked for 30 years at the Eastern Maine Medical Center, actively involved in the oncology programs for both adult and pediatric patients as well as related community services. I also worked in the home care field prior to coming here to Dirigo Pines. My past experiences in nursing and related community activities have prepared me well for this role as the Director of Transitional Care.

It is with great pleasure that I joined the extraordinary staff at Dirigo Pines as we serve this very special population of residents who have come here to enjoy carefree living in this beautiful retirement community. I enjoy working closely with existing and new residents helping to make this a very positive experience living here at the Dirigo Pines Retirement Community.

Meet the Staff: Peter King, Facilities Service Director

Meet Peter King, Facilities Service Director

PeterKing_000Peter King knows the local area well having been born in Old Town, and now living in Milford, Maine. For almost 30 years, Peter was employed at a local paper production facility; 20 years as a Technician Specialist. He was using hi-tech equipment to find flaws in the process and repair equipment before it became a problem. The training, techniques and problem solving skills he gained help keep Dirigo Pines Inn a top notch facility and a very special place to live. In Peter’s words, “the first thing I noticed about Dirigo Pines was the how friendly and dedicated the staff are towards making their residents happy and satisfied. I’m very proud to be Facilities Service Director of Dirigo Pines Inn, and being part of another great team.”

Meet Executive Chef Lewis Stubbs

Lewis Stubbs – Executive Chef

Lewis-flash-in-panI began my culinary career soon after I graduated from Bangor High School. For 12 years, I was employed as the executive chef at the Greenhouse Restaurant in Bangor creating and preparing menus. From there it was Chez Michele in Lincolnville Beach for a summer and then to The Lucerne Inn in Lucerne-In-Maine. As head chef I was not only responsible for the ala carte menus and meal preparation, but I was also in charge of a very busy banquet business.

I am very happy to be part of Dirigo Pines since it began in 2003 and look forward to sharing my culinary skills with a team of exceptionally talented people for years to come.
