3 Don’t Miss April Events in Maine

Spring is here! That means fun events are springing up everywhere around Dirigo Pines’ convenient location in Orono. Here are 3 incredible April events to celebrate spring…

  • Garden Show: Ready to get planting this spring? The 2016 BDN Garden Show is set to hit the Cross Insurance Center April 15, 16 and 17. The 3-day event is guaranteed to offer lots of spring inspiration, with impressive landscape exhibits, tons of vendors, live music, food, and demonstrations. Admission is $8, free for kids 12 and under.
  • Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race: Whether you’re a river vulture (aka: spectator) or one of about 1,000 race participants, the Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race is a not-to-be-missed Bangor event. The race celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, scheduled for Saturday, April 16. The best way to watch? Pick a spot on the riverbank (Six Mile Falls is a popular spot to watch racers traverse tricky rapids) or downtown at the finish line, dress warmly, bring some snacks and enjoy the spills and thrills!
  • National Park Week: April 16-24 is National Park Week, and this year the National Park Service turns 100 years old! To celebrate, for 16 days in 2016 admission is free – including all of National Park Week. Take advantage and beat the crowds to Acadia National Park, one of the nation’s most popular parks. Can’t make it this April? No problem. Everyone age 62 and over can get a lifetime pass to Acadia for just $10!
