When a Hampden retirement village asked Dirigo Pines to throw down in a Bocce Ball tournament earlier this summer, our residents didn’t hesitate to say yes to some friendly competition. The host team from Avalon Village was very gracious, providing a warm welcome, refreshments and new-found friendships. We came in second… but had a great time. So great, in fact, that Dirigo has thrown down the gauntlet, inviting Avalon residents over to Dirigo Pines for a Putting Contest this Thursday.
The Dirigo Pines putting green, better known as Piney Knoll, sits just off the Inn’s patio and is open to all residents wishing to practice their short game. It’s been very popular with residents since it was officially installed last summer.
All are welcome to stop by September 3 from 2 to 4 p.m. to watch the putts roll. Fear not Avalon residents – we’re about as good at golf as we are at bocce!
